If you’re in the market for a PayPal Here chip and pin card reader to work in conjunction with your mobile phone now’s the time to buy. As spotted by Jane Bell the card reader is on half price special offer at £49.99 until the end of June.
The only other costs you’ll incur are a 2.75% transaction fee for every payment accepted with Chip and PIN cards and/or PayPal Check in. A transaction fee of 3.40% plus 20 pence is charged for card payments made by swiping the magnetic stripe or manually keying in the card details. These fees are domestic transactions only, additional charges apply for cross border transactions.
If you’re taking your business on the road to market stalls, trade shows or conferences this summer and want to be able to close deals on the spot, so long as you have a mobile phone signal, once you have your card reader you’re all set to go.

My guess is if you wait a while (probably later this year) then I expect the card reader will be given out free to encourage more people to use the service.
Banks already give chip and pin readers free so why not PP?
