myHermes are now delivering on Sundays in some areas of the country. They say “Recent company research showed that 59% of customers viewed Sunday as a convenient day to receive a parcel – and that is why myHermes has extended its delivery services to span seven days a week”.
This service complements the growing myHermes ParcelShop network, which also operate seven days a week. The company now has more than 3,600 outlets across the UK, which will increase to 5,000 by the end of the year. Plus for those who need an out-of-hours service to send a parcel, there’s also the option of dropping your delivery off at a Parcel Locker instead of a ParcelShop in addition to the normal courier collection.
The Sunday service from myHermes isn’t a guaranteed service at the moment, but is provided in areas where local knowledge shows it will be of value. It’s likely to be much more widespread and frequent at busy times of the year such as at Christmas. What it does show however is that delivery companies are getting more innovative and 2014 is definitely going to be the year when consumers start to expect and demand more choice in how their products are delivered.
