Amazon launch mobile card reader for SMEs

Amazon are taking on PayPal, iZettle, square and others with the launch of their new Amazon Local Register product.

Get a flavour for what they’re offering with this youtube vid but be sure it’s nothing that original compared to what’s already on the market. Get the app, plug in the wotsit, swipe a card and take payments.

And, crucially, the thing to remember is that Amazon Local Register has launched stateside only right now. But doubtless we’ll see it in the UK soon. Until then, you should be looking at PayPal Here in the first instance.

iZettle is also available in the UK but after numerous overtures from Tamebay over the past 18 months we can report that they don’t return our calls. You can make of that what you will.

(We’d love to write about iZettle. But if they don’t take our calls when we would like to publicise them. Will they take yours when you have a problem? We can only assume it’s Nordic reserve.)
