George is a Tamebay reader who is always looking for ways to streamline his business and the businesses of his clients at bayacademy.
One thing he’s been working on with a number of our clients is to look at their defect reports and target improvements. However it was a pain to identify which transaction a defect actually related to so George decided to develop a tool for UK sellers to do this.
The bayacademy eBay UK Defect Tool is now live and free for anyone to use at bayacademy.co.uk/tools.
All you do is download your defect report, make sure you’re signed into eBay and then enter the Item ID & Transaction ID for the defect you want to identify into the eBay UK Defect Tool. Click and the relevant sales record will open in a new window.
Currently the tool only works with multiple item listings but for the majority of sellers with deep inventory that shouldn’t be an issue. You’ll probably want to work on defects coming from your best selling lines first anyhow.
It’s worth remembering that George has made this tool available free of charge (originally it was intended as an internal tool), so it’s provided as is. However if it helps you George will be delighted for you to use it for free.

I won’t be using it because quite frankly I couldn’t give a flying fig what eBay think of us these days, do I want to spend my life finding out why someone isn’t happy because a £5 packet of cleaning fluid wasn’t hand delivered by the Pussy Cat Dolls, naked, on the same day, for free, no thanks, I’d rather listen to Ed Miliband or take a slow walk off a cliff, thinking about it Ed v’s Cliff.
The cliff wins.
We had our eBay 10 year anniversary last week, we’ve probably had less than 10 negs in that time but apparently we are just above standard or average what ever the phrase is. Poke it eBay.
Well done George btw, lots of sellers will use it, making it available for free is very cool. I hope your business thrives.
too right after 16 years full time selling on ebay
if were suddenly somehow defective thats ebays doing not ours
Thank you George. I will certainly give it a go.
Defects are all in ebays mind. Been selling for 14 years and punters keep coming back. Normal punter service is now a defect. Another vote here for not wasting time with defect system although well done George for coming up with something to help those who are bothered about it.
