PayPal have announced that merchants using Braintree will be able to accept Bitcoin payments in the near future.
Bitcoins are unlikely to be accepted directly when buying or selling with PayPal in the near future, nor on eBay. However if you run your won website and payment by Bitcoins would be attractive to your customers then you’ll be able to accept them and use Braintree to process the deal.
Braintree announced a new partnership with Coinbase, an international digital wallet that allows you to securely buy, use, and accept bitcoin currency. The integration will mean you as a merchant don’t have to actually own any Bitcoins – an instant exchange means you can accept Bitcoins from your customer but still end up with traditional currency that you can bank.
With the new Braintree v.zero SDK adding Bitcoin could be as simple as a checkbox in the management console when you’re ready to start accepting Bitcoin payments.
Are Bitcoin payments attractive for your business? Do you want to accept a virtual digital currency or will you stick with a currency you can withdraw from a bank and put in your real wallet?
