Just a reminder, because you might not have spotted it in the small print of the eBay UK Click & Collect, and neither did we.
But it seems that if you want your items to enjoy being part of the new Click & Collect system that eBay UK are rolling out right now, don’t use Best Offer. We were tipped off by a Tamebay reader who had been in touch with eBay Customer Support.
He said: “I was today invited to join Click & Collect. I have spent the evening revising my listings so that they comply with the criteria stated. But it still did not work.
I have just been told by a guy on eBay Chat that it is because I use the Best Offer option on my listings. Supposedly, Click & Collect cannot be offered from any listing that uses the Best Offer option. I was not aware of this, it is not something that is mentioned anywhere in eBay help. I asked the gentleman from eBay to show me where it was mentioned and he could not. He stated that I needed to remove the Best Offer option from my listings for it to work. I would therefore lose my sales history after re-listing! Bit gutted that I wasted so much of my time this evening.”
We can sympathise: it is a waste of time and the first we’ve heard here at Tamebay so be aware of this small print.
I’ve mulled it over the course of the day and cannot really see why a Best Offer sale shouldn’t be plugged into the Click & Collect system. People cleverer than me might be able to come up with a reason. Answers on a postcard.

I was auto opted in to click and collect over the weekend but i don’t use one of the approved couriers (City Link). Sold 5 items via click and collect, all over the qualifying length of 1.2M. My items were all 1.5m and all were delivered successfully the next day. Think i might just keep it on until a problem pops up
Why?
Any seller using “Best Offer” is a realist and a sensible trader too, within their limits they are willing to accept a lower sale price . . . which means a lower FSV . . . which means both eBay and Pay Pal make less money . . . but does it mean that Argos makes less money too?
Answers on a postcard? . . . greed!
We were opted in and have had a few orders and a couple of “issues”
the first one was a customer ordered an item for Halloween, they ordered on the 29th of October and selected 2nd class post.
They then informed me on the 31st that they started the returns process as they wanted to cancel as it had not arrived, i then gave them the delivery information and asked them if ARGOS had contacted them, he replied he had just had the message and will go and collect and the end he was happy.
So the extra involvement by ARGOS did not seem to hold things up.
Today’s one is going to take a little more of my time:
The customer has just purchased an item with a delivery to their local ARGOS in Burnley (We are in Hampshire), they have selected an alternative payment method with the message:
I will be sending payment of £12.00 via Cash on collection shortly.
I have asked my packer if she could get herself up to Burnley with the item and loiter around the ARGOS store until the customer arrives, but she said NO, you just cant the staff nowadays.
I have sent a message explaining that the Ebay Click & Collect is not the same as the Argos Click & Collect, i await an answer, but she may already be on her way to Town!!!
