InPost have announced the launch of InPost Direct – a simple and more convenient way for small business owners, entrepreneurs, online marketplace sellers and consumers to send parcels.
Available in time for the busy Christmas shopping period and in response to user demand, people can now directly access InPost to send one or several parcels from their nearest locker location on a ‘pay as you go’ basis and without the need to integrate the solution into their existing web presence.
If you’ve got a parcel to send, you simply visit inpostdirect.co.uk, enter the weight and size of their parcel, print off a label and attach it to your parcel. They drop it off at your preferred locker where it will be collected, tracked and delivered directly to the door of friends, family or customers across the UK within 48 hours.
People who want to dispatch multiple parcels in one go can also make use of the ‘Parcel Manager’ function on the website. Rather than inputting parcel data and addresses separately into the system, you can quickly upload an excel document, automatically enabling all labels to be generated at once. Online marketplace sellers also have the option to upload their parcel delivery data held on Amazon and eBay, making the process even more seamless.
This is going to be especially useful for casual sellers who are also holding down a full time job. Rather than rushing to despatch parcels in your lunch hour you can literally drop parcels off in the middle of the night! All of InPost’s 1000 lockers are accessible 24/7/365, so there’s no time of the day or night that you can’t despatch parcels and that includes weekends.

This has the downside of adding a day to the delivery timescale as the parcels will not be collected until the next day.
With this service (and parcelshop dropoff) the time the courier visits is unknown so it is not possible to tell whether a parcel taken to the locker/shop will be collected today or tomorrow.
If you bother to read the Inpost T&C then you probably won’t bother to use them, they’re a complete no-no as far as we are concerned, there are far too many reasons why they are not liable for anything, including delivering your parcels.
I think some of the comments above are very unfair. Ive been using inPost for small parcels for the past 6 months and have only had 1 issue where a courier failed to deliver and I had a returned parcel. If you trade via ebay, parcel2go integrates with your account now, so its even easier to transact parcels.
This is quite an interesting service. Parcel2go look to be operating it as it has the same web interface as their main site which cannot be a coincidence?
Also note that currently they look to be the cheapest tracked parcel to door service with signature for small sellers, even less than MyHermes resold via Parcel2go.
Current rates start at just £2.11 for under 1kg. Note also that although they have 3 size bands they are currently charging the same for all three. This may be a temporary measure.
I was also told on livechat that they use City Link couriers. This may only be a temporary arrangement but is much cheaper than using City Link direct as a small scale user.
