PayPal have improved their offering in Belgium. Now PayPal users there will be able to link their bank account to their PayPal account and use that as a funding source.
Previously, Belgian users were limited to funding their purchases with either a credit card or bank transfer. Belgium has around 1.4 million PayPal users but about one half of them are entirely dormant. This move may ignite those dormant PayPal accounts in the country. Globally PayPal has roughly 156 million active accounts.
It’s good to see PayPal investing and improving usage and adoption in Europe where traction has been demonstrably weaker than in the UK. The Germans, in particular, have not taken PayPal to their bosom with the same enthusiasm as the Brits, for instance.
