Facebook buys ecommerce search engine The Find

It was announced on Friday that Facebook had acquired ecommerce search engine The Find for an undisclosed sum.

The Find is a site that indexes goods sold online from thousands of websites to help buyers find the best deal. As part of the acquisition, The Find’s technology will be incorporated into Facebook but the website will not survive as an individual destination.

“Key members of our team are joining the company and will be working hard to integrate our technology to make the ads you see on Facebook every day better and more relevant to you,” said The Find.

Facebook made over $12bn in advertising revenues last year but successfully monetising ecommerce would a huge boost for the social network.
