They say that you can buy and sell just about anything on eBay, but other sites are giving them a run for their money.
I was surprised enough to discover that you could buy sheep on Trademe (yes real live sheep), but now you can also get goats on Amazon.
You can’t actually buy a goat on Amazon, but what you can do is hire a goat instead of buying a lawn mower. It’s all part of the new Amazon Home Services from Amazon.com.
The description says that once a “pro has met with you to determine if unleashing some friendly goats on your property will help you get rid of any unwanted vegetation, you’ll receive a recommendation for how many goats will be loaned to you, how long those goats will keep you company, and how often a pro will come check on them to make sure they’re not attempting any fancy tricks to break free from the temporary fencing that will be placed around them“.
It finishes up saying “As they graze, they will likely leave behind some droppings, too, and you’ll get to keep this fertilizer as a friendly parting gift!”
Amazon Home Service is, according to the press blurb, a new marketplace for on-demand professional services. In less than 60 seconds, customers can now browse, purchase and schedule hundreds of professional services from wall mounting a new TV to installing a new garbage disposal to house cleaning, directly on Amazon.com.
To make sure the service runs smoothly Amazon promise Handpicked Pros, a Happiness Guarantee, Upfront Pricing and Verified Reviews.
Sadly not available in the UK as of yet, so you’ll have to roll out the lawn mower for the summer or if you do want goats find a friendly farmer to lend you a few.
We can’t help thinking that someone in the Amazon PR department put the hire a goat listing up as a bit of link bait rather than as a serious business proposition. If so it worked!
