Credit cards from Australia being declined?

No primary category set

Australia FlagTamebay reader John told us that he’s noticed that Westpac and ANZ, two of Australia largest banks, are declining customers credit cards on a very frequent basis for know apparent reason. He asks if this is something that other Tamebay readers have noticed?

It’s a major problem for John, who sells on both his business to business and business to consumer websites as well as on marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon. John ships to over 60 different countries and at this time of year – Spring/Summer, his sales to Australia are are 25% – 30% of turnover.

It’s a classic example of trading around the world to soften out seasonal trends, whilst Johns products are in less demand in the UK, he makes up for this by shipping to the other side of the world. However with the proportion of credit card payments being declined it’s a real barrier to running his business.

Have you noticed any unusual patterns of credit cards being declined and if so which territories and if known, which banks?
