Alibaba sells 11 Main, Auctiva and Vendio to OpenSky

No primary category set

Alibaba have flogged their 11 Main marketplace, which was only opened a year ago, to US social marketplace OpenSky.

As part of the deal they’ve also disposed of the eBay tools Alibaba acquired – Auctiva and Vendio, as well as their shopping comparison tool, SingleFeed. Alibaba will end up with a 37% stake on OpenSky.

It appears that Alibaba want to focus on attracting foreign brands to trade on their Chinese marketplaces and enabling merchants to sell to Chinese consumers through Tmall.com and Taobao. For overseas sales to consumers around the world the AliExpress platform continues to be popular.
