It’s being reported that Amazon are further branching out offline by opening a bricks & mortar grocery store in Sunnyvale, California at the heart of the Silicon Valley.
The rumours stem from a planning application believed to be from Amazon which envisages “a blended customer shopping experience, as it leverages both an online shopping platform and the traditional brick-and-mortar retail experience.”
So it looks like they are keen to enable click and collect for groceries, perhaps as an extension of their AmazonFresh grocery brand but the shop would be available too to those who hadn’t ordered online and just wished to shop.
Apparently the 11,600sq ft warehouse will feature eight vehicle spaces at collection spots to enable speedy service.
