eBay’s 20th Birthday: Do you know the way to San Jose?

20In September eBay is holding a party to celebrate its 20th birthday. It’s all going down in eBay’s home town of San Jose, California on the 10th and 11th at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

As eBay says in the blurb: “eBay is all about you: This year, we put immense focus on delivering new and improved experiences to help you better manage your business on eBay. We can’t wait to share these with you and have even more in store…”

eBay’s CEO Devin Wenig says: “eBay is a special company because of the amazing array of people who sell on our marketplace. Extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. I hope you will join us to celebrate eBay’s 20th year where you’ll make new connections, meet old friends, and discover more ways to be successful on eBay.”

“Twenty years ago, eBay pioneered the way for people to buy and sell online. Twenty years later, thanks to all our sellers, we are the most vibrant and unique shopping destination on the internet. That’s totally worth celebrating and we hope you’ll join us!”

It’s $65 to book in. But there is currently not much detail on the agenda: is it party, PR shindig, trade show or seminar?

The various eBay Live! events Tamebay has attended over the years in Orlando, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Boston and Chicago were lively, invigorating, informative and fascinating. And there is no reason to suspect that this 20th anniversary will be anything less. But it’s a long way to go for UK sellers.

Will you be heading to the party? Do you know the way to San Jose?

(And yeah, I know it’s a different San Jose in the song.)

  1. “Will you be heading to the party? Do you know the way to San Jose?”

No and no. I wouldn’t go if eBay paid me.

  2. I’d be more than happy to go if they paid me and I don’t even sell on Ebay any more! I’ll take a few days hotel expenses and travel costs, it’s not too shabby in San Jose.

I went to Ebay Live in Chicago I can understand why it was the last one, they couldn’t really handle the disgruntled sellers very well. That, and it was seriously under attended.
