Private equity firm set to buy eBay Enterprise unit for $1bn

eBay Inc. is keen to sell off the eBay Enterprise unit of the business before the split with PayPal on 17th July. And it looks like they have a buyer.

It’s reported that private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners LP is in talks to acquire eBay Enterprise for $1bn.

eBay Enterprise helps sellers with logistics and commercial advice including fulfilment.

As Reuters note even a $1bn sale marks a loss on why eBay Inc. paid: “GSI Commerce was acquired by eBay for $2.4 billion in 2011. It has lost customers and seen sluggish growth in the past few years as its clients move their online operations in-house.

Toys “R” Us Inc, a client of GSI Commerce since 2006, announced on Thursday it was launching its own online platform, a move that could take away more business from the unit.”
