Say Hello to the Mona personal shopping app

There are stacks of shopping apps out there but Mona caught our eye.

Started by former Amazon executives, the idea is that you put in your likes and preferences and then Mona does the hard work tracking down deals and discounts.

Founder Orkun Atik bemoans the lack of innovation in ecommerce: “Today, shopping is organized around products, and we want to organize it around people.”

Here’s a video that explains the idea:

A beta version of the app is live on iOS and you can request “early access” to Mona but it isn’t clear as to whether the service is currently available in the UK.

The thing that sounds most attractive regarding the Mona service is the idea that the more you use it, the more it learns. I’m fed up with buying stuff from retailers and then being subject to marketing from them that in no way reflects my interests or needs.
