It’s a case of better late than never. Amazon announced earlier this year in March that they would be shutting down the Webstore service.
But only now have they suggested their advised alternative: Shopify. In an ideal world, they two announcements would have been made simultaneously to minimise stress for sellers.
The announcement says that it will be straight-forward to “seamlessly migrate” your webstore to the Shopify platform.
As they say: “As Amazon’s preferred migration partner, we’ve worked closely with the Webstore team to make moving to Shopify simple. In a few steps, merchants can transfer their customer and product data – with zero downtime or service interruptions – and begin taking advantage of an extended 30-day free trial.”
Additionally, there is upside for Shopify sellers who want to more with Amazon. You will now be able to add Amazon payments to your shopify site and also hook it up with Fulfillment by Amazon.
Patrick Gauthier, VP of Amazon Payments said:”Shopify exemplifies the value of simplicity in an increasingly complex world of commerce services. We are excited to work together with Shopify to create best of class solutions that help merchants integrate Amazon offerings.”
It would be good to hear from any Amazon Webstore sellers to find out just how seamless it is to migrate from platform to platform.
