How not to do your eBay images!

JacketWe’re always reluctant to critique any one’s eBay listings, especially when we’re not going to be particularly complimentary. However after Tamebay reader Michael sent in a link to one particular listing we simply couldn’t resist.

The main gallery image isn’t great but it’s by no means a disaster. We can see the product for sale, it’s a jacket, it looks like quite a nice jacket. It looks warm and is probably comfortable.

What we don’t understand is quite why the seller felt it necessary or advisable to upload the second image. Perhaps they really wanted convince you that the jacket is comfortable and they thought it best to emphasise the point?

Scroll over the image (or click) to see their second gallery image.

  1. Certainly not my cup of tea but there are a great many cat people out there and it does have the element of humour, whether intended or not.

  2. That is absolutely brilliant.

It makes me want the jacket as if the cat would come with it. It’s like using an attractive model but for cat people.

  3. Awful and most people would stay well away unless they want their new jacket to be covered in lovely white cat hairs

  4. An excellent example of targeted marketing, people that need a coat and like cats. My daughter would love the photo.
Judging by the number of TV adverts that contain a gratuitous cat, seems like a proven formula.

  5. It is a brilliant marketing idea. I could catch all the cats who think my garden is their property, put a pic of them with one of my items and ship both together. Make money and reduce the cat problem. Sound.

  6. That’s a definite reason for ‘SNAD’….. they open the package and the cat isn’t in it !!

  7. I can see some people opening requests once receiving the jacket. “Item is not as described – Seller only sent the jacket and not the cat.”
