Amazon China now boasts an impressive import inventory on its site with over 2 million items having been added to the site in February 2016 alone. It seems obvious that the number of overseas products available in China is only set to grow.
There’s a section on Amazon.cn called Haiwaigou and that means “imported goods”. The idea is to make it easier for Chinese shoppers to buy more easily from overseas. Product pages from Amazon US are translated into Chinese for ease of shopping and Alipay is available. That’s a payment system many Chinese shoppers will know because it’s run by Alibaba.
Items are available to buy in quite a few categories including healthcare, mum and baby, beauty, fashion, kitchenware, electronics, office supplies, bags, watches and jewellery.
It seems at the moment that this is currently just a boon for US sellers. Shipping is offered within 3-5 or 1 week. To get involved with Amazon.cn it seems that US sellers must click the “ship to China” option when they set up the product listing on Amazon.com. Sounds easy.
China is a huge market with a proven thirst for Western products, especially prestige brands. So anything that opens that market up easily is welcome. So it will be interesting to see if Amazon give UK sellers the opportunity to plug into China too soon.
If they did, would you take advantage?

They have a thirst for designer premium goods, but that’s fading due to the government clamp downs in corruption in china.
I can’t see products listed like a ‘thermos’ really having a big sell through.
