Panasonic have unveiled their smallest Toughpad device to date, the 4.7 inch Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1 handheld tablets. The lightweight feature packed devices are fully rugged and ergonomically designed, ideal for warehouse or outdoor situations.

Angled rear barcode reader

The angled rear barcode reader in the Panasonic’s new handheld tablets offers increased protection for users and improved productivity. The angle of the 1D and 2D barcode reader means that users do not have to bend at the elbow or wrist to scan, reducing the risk of repetitive strain injuries.

Panasonic FZ-F1 & FZ-N1The angle also means that users are still able to read the device screen while scanning, enabling workers to complete the process faster than using a traditional straight line barcode reader, where the device has to be tilted and then turned back by the user to see the screen. In addition, the Panasonic device comes with barcode reader activation buttons on either side making it easy for use by left- or right-handed workers.

Uses

It’s designed for postal and courier workers, warehouse, retail, manufacturing, field services and emergency services, the device has both voice and data capabilities.

The 4.7” HD capacitive multi-touch daylight readable display is designed for use by workers in bright sunlight or in the rain and when wearing gloves. The device can also be used with the optional Passive Pen or an optional Active Pen, for more accurate signature recording and recognition capabilities.

Voice and data

With both 4G LTE / 3G data and voice communications the new Panasonic tablets are easy to use for telephone calls including 3 mics and dual front speakers. Your workers will never be uncontactable again, even when on the road performing deliveries.

The devices also support WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC capabilities and have an 8MP rear and 5MP front camera for document capture.

Price and launch date

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1 Android tablet handheld tablet will be availble in June 2016, priced at £1268 plus VAT, and the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1 Windows 10 IoT Mobile Enterprise version will be available in the later part of the year, priced at £1291 plus VAT.

They’re not cheap devices, but they are practically unbreakable in normal use and come with 3 year warranties as standard. If you’re looking for reliable rugged hand held tablets with barcode scanning and voice and data capability they’re well worth considering.
