In May eBay will be making some category changes with the aim to simplifying their categories to improve alignment across markets, making it easier for you to sell on eBay’s international sites.
One of the critical reasons eBay say that they’re making the changes is on-site and off-site SEO. They say that “Category and item specific changes will help ensure that your items appear in the most relevant search results both across all versions of our site as well as when using external search engines“.
The latest category and item specific changes will roll out on the 17th of May 2016. eBay will automatically update any affected listings on 17th of May or you can modify them yourself before that date.
There are no officially announced fee changes in the Spring Seller Release, but beware, eBay say that “Not only will buyers in other countries be able to find your items more easily, we’ll be able to simplify our pricing and policies“. You may find that a category you used to list in has changed so check the fees for the new category to avoid any surprises on your invoice, although we can’t spot any major hidden fee changes.
