eBay are updating their Jewellery Policy requirements to help you list your items in the Fine Jewellery and Costume Jewellery categories more accurately.
The changes can be summed up as don’t list cheap costume jewellery in the fine jewellery category and make sure you add a few details to assist buyers.
The extra details are quite important, not only will it help buyers find your items but it’ll also make it easier for eBay to detect and act against fraudulent listings. eBay say that they will “regularly monitor the Fine Jewellery and Costume Jewellery categories using detection tools, risk models, strict policy enforcement and partnership with the proper authorities to ensure the integrity of our marketplace“.
Main Jewellery Policy Changes
These changes apply from today for new listings on eBay. You’ll have until the 4th of July to edit existing listings and edit any Good til Cancelled listings.
- Items with fine metals or fine gemstones, as defined in the jewellery policy, should be listed in the Fine Jewellery category.
- If you’re selling a fine metal that is plated or filled with another fine metal, you should list it in the Fine Jewellery category.
- When selling natural diamonds that have been enhanced, you must include the word ‘enhanced’ in the title, item specifics and description of your listing.
- When selling natural gemstones that have been treated, you must include the word ‘treated’ in the title, item specifics and description of your listing.
