How do you find manufacturers for your products?

There is a definite trend amongst ecommerce SMEs to start making and selling their own goods for sale. It could mean plugging into marketplaces Like Etsy and the like. Or maybe Private Label Selling on Amazon is the outlet.

It’s a new horizon for many sellers who start off selling things other people make, package and brand and then they branch out and maybe design their own goods or brand generic stock.

And finding a manufacturer for your goods is a process potentially fraught with problems. It might very well lead you into dealing with Chinese manufacturers and using Alibaba.

It’s also the topic for an Enterprise Nation webinar today. Kate Hills from Make It British and Dessy Tsolova from Utelier will explain how to find a manufacturer for your products.

To find out more and bag a place, check out the webpage here.

We’d love to hear about your experiences? Have you ever used Alibaba? Is Private Label Selling on Amazon working for you? What are the pitfalls of commissioning a manufacturer?

  1. The big problem with buying in bulk for resale from China is quality if you resell the goods and it turns out they are dangerous or faulty the blame and claims stops at the importer

Its safer paying a bit more not to be the importer and buy in the UK wholesale lots of small business importers don’t realise they will be at risk if something goes wrong they think they can pass the claim down the supply chain but they cant as it stops at the person or company who imported the goods and if they don’t have the correct insurance quite often it comes as a shock.
