James and James have been included among the winners of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, announced today.
The award is for Innovation, in recognition of the company’s development of its real-time cloud-based e-fulfilment system. This has seen the company grow rapidly over the six years since it was founded.
The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s highest accolade for business success, and recognises the significant contribution made by James and James in providing a flexible and scalable fulfilment solution way for e-retailers selling in food and drink, health supplements and fashion, cosmetics and consumer electronics industries to customers around the world.
The Award comes at an exciting time for James and James, as the company has just opened its first overseas facility, in Ohio, USA, and plans further global expansion in the months ahead.
The purpose built Ohio storage and office facility extends to 400,000 sq. ft., and will enable faster and more competitive shipping rates to US end customers. Almost half of the American population is within one day’s drive of the new warehouse, as is a third of the Canadian population.
The new US facility is the first of a global network currently being set up to service a growing group of international clients. The move signals James and James’ ambitions to be a major global provider of e-fulfilment services, building on their rapid success in the UK.
“Naturally, we are delighted to being recognised in these prestigious awards”, said James Hyde, Operations Director of James and James. “Our staff are immensely proud of the achievement, and we look forward to continued expansion as we work with retail clients across the world”.
Interestingly one of the perks of winning is the right to fly The Queen’s Award flag at the James and James head office. I’ve been to their site in Cambridgeshire but don’t remember seeing a flag pole. No doubt as a fulfilment house they’ll know a courier that can ship one in!

Cool! I just see they run an award show themselves! Is the shortlist already known?
