Three years after opening for business in India, Amazon are about to launch Prime for Indian customers
Amazon India will offer free two day delivery on eligible products and the Amazon website is ready to launch according to maktechblog who broke the news.
Currently pricing details aren’t known, it’s also not known if Indians will be able to access other services such as Amazon Music and Video.
India is a territory which should be high on your target list for expansion, that’s if you’re not already selling there. Due to Indian ecommerce rules, it’s tricky for western retailers to sell on Indian marketplaces. Generally the easiest route is to partner with an Indian retailer who effectively buys your product and retails it – effectively acting as a trading assistant. With Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) already available in India, getting your product into FBA makes sense, especially with Prime about to launch.
Amazon Prime in India is expected to launch in June and Amazon’s normal free 30 day trial will be available.
