Amazon will be opening an Amazon Logistics depot in Devon and creating a total of 100 jobs.
There will be 20 people employed directly at the facility in Sowton, Exeter and also an estimated 80 jobs created with 8 associated local delivery firms who will take on the deliveries. Amazon Logistics delivers parcels to customers 7 days a week.
Jamie Stephenson of Amazon Logistics says: “Amazon Logistics adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network, enabling us to meet the delivery needs of customers. Amazon Logistics is also helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses by providing state of the art technology to deliver Amazon orders.”
In the past few weeks we’ve reported on a number of new Amazon facilities. Including fulfilment centres in Tilbury, Essex, Doncaster and Stoke. There is also a new Amazon Logistics operation in Northern Ireland. Amazon said at the start of the year that they would create 3500 UK jobs before 2017. It looks as if they’re on track to deliver much more than that. Astonishing growth.
