eBay makes it easier to login

Screen Shot 2016-08-09 at 22.32.31It’s one of those banes of modern life: bloody passwords. If you are using multiple websites and apps and also observing the basic best practise of not using the same password on multiple devices then you could be holding dozens of passwords in your head. And if you’re anything like me, then sometimes you’ll forget the passwords of services and sites you don’t use every day.

It would seem that eBay has recognised this and has launched a new feature for their apps and desktops using Touch ID available on smartphones and they’re calling it One Time Password.

As they say: “One Time Password provides an ultra-simple method of accessing eBay’s marketplace seamlessly.

With One Time Password, users are prompted to sign in with a single code that they receive via text. Once the one-time code is used, users stay signed in. This removes login friction on both desktop computers and mobile devices for millions of eBay users, as they no longer need to remember their passwords.

With single-touch access on mobile devices, known as Touch ID, users are able to authenticate their log-in via their fingerprint.”

You can read all about it, and some other developments, on eBay here.

  1. After I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on whenever a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there a means you are able to remove me from that service? Cheers!
