eBay Seller Release: New Shutl delivery service

No primary category set

PrintHere at Tamebay we’ve long thought that eBay should get a decent delivery label solution in place along with using their bulk buying power to negotiate some serious discounts on behalf of eBay sellers. In this Seller Release they’re taking the first steps towards doing so.

Three years ago eBay acquired UK start up Shutl and today they are announcing the replacement of the current eBay label platform with a new label experience which is being built from scratch with Shutl.

Once the solution launches, you will be able to quickly choose from a range of competitively priced delivery options across popular UK couriers.

  • Print your labels in just a few clicks, thanks to seamless integration between Shutl and eBay.
  • Choose from thousands of convenient drop off-points across the UK.
  • Pay for all of your Shutl deliveries via PayPal in a single consolidated invoice.
  • And, if anything goes wrong, Shutl will be on hand to deal with any queries from you and your buyers. For the record their contact details are +44 333 136 8040 or [email protected]

You can get early access to the new delivery service later this year. All you need to do is register your interest with eBay and they’ll get back to you with next steps.

As soon as you have early access to the new delivery service, it will replace your access to the current Buy and print postage feature on eBay. You can of course opt to go back to printing your labels on eBay through existing features at any time.

Currently we understand that the only courier available on the new eBay Shutl service is the myHermes economy services. We’re expecting some competitive rates however and also that eBay will add Royal Mail and more courier services in the very near future.

To start with you will only be able to use the rates eBay negotiate in bulk on behalf of all sellers. It is expected that in the future you’ll be able to plug your own courier contract into Shutl and pay the rates that you have personally negotiated.

We’ll be looking forward to seeing the new label flow when it launches, but one thing we do know is that there’ll be no tracking numbers to upload to eBay. The Shutl solution will take care of this for you.

The one and only downside that we can see is that if there are any delivery issues that you’ll be talking to Shutl and not the courier directly. On the plus side, with everything connected into eBay there’ll be no arguments as to whether a package has been despatched and you may be able to naughtily enlist Shutl to deal with awkward customers claiming non-delivery.

  1. It looks like MyHermes in a dress to me but it may be good for seamless interrogation to eBay

Economy powered by Shutl via myHermes

  2. at the time of acquiring Shutl, the headline was “ebay serious about same-day delivery”.
three years of ebay development later, the best they’re offering us is Hermes economy.
    now that’s Serious!
