eBay has launched a new service that makes it quicker to cash in your mobile phone.
All you do is tap in the various variables regarding your phone. You could choose to sell it yourself but eBay Valet could be the easier option. With that, you send your handset free of charge to eBay Valet and they make you an offer which you can accept or reject. If you accept it then you’ll be paid that sum by PayPal within two working days. There are more details on this page.
It’s a CEX or Music Magpie style service, which I like this for several reasons. Firstly, it’s good to get something sold quickly and safely and have the money safely your pocket. It’s about liquidating an asset so you use the spends elsewhere and the faff of waiting for auctions to end or BINs to be bought can sometimes take times. Secondly, if you use the eBay Valet service, it takes the risk out of selling mobile phones. And we know the problems amateur sellers have there, in particular.
It’s interesting too that eBay is further experimenting with little tweaks like this to get more people selling is slightly different ways.
Sadly this seems to be only available Stateside right now, but if it landed in the UK, would you use it?
