Amazon Prime launches in 200 new countries

Amazon today announced that Amazon Prime Video is now available to customers in more than 200 countries and territories around the globe. Notably China is one of the very few countries they won’t be broadcasting in.

the-grand-tour-hmCustomers around the world can now enjoy popular new original series like The Grand Tour from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May (currently the top-rated TV show on IMDb with an overall rating of 9.4 and over 20,000 votes) and award-winning Amazon Original Series like The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, Tumble Leaf and more.

Amazon Prime Video is now available at no additional cost to Amazon Prime in Belgium, Canada, France, India, Italy and Spain and to customers in new Prime Video territories for $2.99 USD (or €2.99) per month for the first six months, a 50% discount off the full price of $5.99 (or €5.99) per month. As always we love the simplicity of switching a Dollar sign for a Pound or in this case a Euro sign and calling it an equitable exchange rate.

Customers can sign-up for a Prime Video membership watch on Android and iOS phones and tablets, Fire Tablets and select LG and Samsung smart TVs or online at PrimeVideo.com. Members can also download all movies and TV shows for offline viewing—that means watching on a plane, train, anywhere at no additional cost.

Amazon are of course hoping that customers who sign up to watch their video offerings will spend more on products or if they’re not currently a customer will start buying on Amazon.

One Response

  1. Amazon seem to have forgotten that their 3rd party sellers are also their customers despite it being reported that 50% of items sold come from third party Marketplace sellers. With Seller Support now being non-existent, the Amazon catalogue is getting worse and worse with them not responding to reports of errors, Amazon are neglecting the basics.
