eBay has today announced the appointment of its new UK Vice President, Rob Hattrell.

Rob joins from Tesco, most recently running the Tesco General Merchandise business across the UK and Central Europe where he has transformed the business across both physical and online channels. Before joining Tesco, Rob was a partner in the global retail practice at Accenture.

He joins as eBay’s UK Vice President from Monday 27th February, and will be responsible for leading the UK business, one of eBay’s strongest markets worldwide, attracting over 20 million active buyers a month.
Rob takes over from Tanya Lawler, eBay’s outgoing UK Vice President.

eBay European Vice President Paul Todd says:

“I am delighted welcome Rob Hattrell to eBay. He brings vast experience in both online and physical retail, and I am truly excited about the ways in which these experiences can help to drive the eBay UK business forward in 2017.”

New eBay UK Vice President Rob Hattrell says:

“eBay is the place the world comes to shop, sell and give. Customers, empowered by technology, are driving the continuous growth of internet retailing, and eBay is very much part of that seismic shift in the market. By focusing on our customers’ needs and by continuing to enable entrepreneurship I look forward to helping build the next chapter of eBay in the UK.”

Tamebay say:

We’re delighted to see that the new eBay UK VP is a retailer from a big brand. Rob will be well accustomed to running a complex business across multiple verticals and has overseen Tesco transforming over the past few years.

It will be interesting to see him continue the incredibly successful relationship Tanya struck up with Argos and Sainsbury’s with her introduction of Click and Collect for eBay buyers, and continue the big customer service battleground for eBay and retail in general which is shipping and delivery.

Rob will also have to work with Devin Wenig, eBay CEO to transform search and listings to ensure products can be found in a changing world of Artificial Intelligence as shoppers change the way they purchase, start using screenless devices ever more frequently, and of course as mobile continues to grow.

We look forward to meeting Rob when he takes up his new role.
