We’ve heard a number of sellers report that there have been irksome delays in processing parcels and mail at Chicago. In the most extreme cases this has resulted in defects and sanctions from the marketplaces for sellers as a result. There have been delays at Chicago since the beginning of December. Have you been affected?
Royal Mail has assured us that UK mail will now be going through New York and that even in Chicago the situation should be improving. It’s good that Royal have already taken steps to alleviate this problem.
They sent us this statement:
“There have been delays affecting the processing of mail through the Chicago, USA Office of Exchange since early December 2016. We are engaging the USPS in conversation to work on improving the situation and have been informed that a new operational process is being deployed with immediate effect at the International Service Centre in Chicago. In the meantime, effective from 24 January 2017 , our Tracked, Signed and Tracked & Signed products for the zip codes begin with 4, 5, 6 or 7 will be despatched to the JFK facility in an effort to improve the delivery time frame.”

Try sending stuff to Italy!!
This is not Royal Mails fault as I know my Tracked items reach Italy in 2 days – but then it takes Italian Post up to 4 weeks to delivery it – in some cases 6 weeks!
All I can say is thank goodness for the extremely patient Italian customers who know only too well what a shambles their postal system is!
