Are eBay having tech glitches this Sunday?

No primary category set

[Edited to add 12:45] Update, eBay tell us that the glitches are fixed and the site should be returning to normal.

We’re getting reports that some eBay users can’t access the eBay home page, can’t place bids, and can’t get into the Seller pages on the site. Downdetector is displaying a spike from practically zero eBay issues all day to almost 2,000 reports by 10.00am.

According to Downdetector’s outage map, the issue is restricted to the UK at the moment.

In fairness I have to say that eBay is working just fine for me here in Berkshire, but [updated 11.00am] I’m now one of the afflicted, I can’t view any eBay shops or buy anything. Often when something like this has happened in the past it’s turned out to be a major ISP with routing issues or the like.

Are you able to get on eBay this morning? Can you buy and are you receiving sales? We’ll monitor the situation and update if we see the issue getting worse. Otherwise, hopefully everything will be back to normal before you even get to read this.

  1. 10.45, West Sussex using Talk Talk. Problems for last half hour.
Unable to place bids, access MyEbay page (Summary does work) or send messages / use contact seller links.
Generally very slow to load search results too.

  2. Location Suffolk.
I have not been able to access ebay on the app or website since just before 9.00 this morning.
All of my listings end later today, hoping issue will be fixed a.s.a.p

A quick google shows that many other internet sites and mobile networks also having problems ?

  3. eBay has been really slow since Friday but now it’s fully down. The API is still connecting but hardly any orders have come in for our sellers. Amazon working 🙂

  4. It’s comforting to know that, having massively increased their flat shop fees, Ebay will still be making money, even though you or I cannot BUY OR SELL ANYTHING !!!!!!

  5. Show me a day when eBat didn’t have glitches.
eBay business seller board is full of examples of other glitches that make it unusable for an average seller: broken best match, disappearing photos and item specifics when relisting, “New without tags” condition showing as “used” or “preloved” “for parts or spares” as “parts only”, promoted listings hidden when “UK only” is selected of not getting any impressions at all, buyers appearing in Buyer Requirements Activity Log for no reason, third party adds causing pages to freeze, etc.
Every day there is something new and sellers efforts to bring the issues to eBay’s attention always seem to fall on deaf ears.

  6. No apology from Ebay for this morning’s site collapse.

    Not a peep from them.

Message boards showing Ebay CS even lying to sellers saying it was “routine maintenance”

  7. Received various messages from buyers saying their sniper programmes failed to bid on last night’s auctions.

Even though their system convulsion was in the morning, it appears to have knocked out some bids placed with snipers both before then and after.

As always, there will be no compo for sellers.

Ebay makes a lot of money – a huge pile of the stuff.

It appears they don’t spend ANY of it on their shambolic “internal error to the application” system.

  8. Still no apology from Ebay anywhere on their site about yesterday – they don’t even mention it.

It’s like it just never happened.

We lost hundreds last night in lost bids, let alone the shops sales missed during the outage.

Ebay is constantly asking for more from sellers. both in terms of seller requirements and now with higher fees for using Ebay.

I hope sites like Tamebay will hold their feet to the flames when unacceptable events like this happen.

We were told some time ago that Ebay was changing and would be better and more responsive to issues.

It has not changed one bit.

  9. All I know is I’ve gone from the most spectacular march sales to zero activity and have only made a tenth of my march sales so far since April 6th

    Ebay is rather frustrating !

  10. It’s not like they even hold stock or fulfilment.. they literally have one job !

Provide a stable platform for sellers to do the work

  11. not sure whats going on i have gone from 30 sales a day to 0 .. and none of my listings are appearing in search results when two days ago they where all at the top. customer support keep emailing me telling me my listings are appearing at the top of searches but when i check on my phone or freinds phones/ computers my listings can not be found. any one else having same issues?

  12. Unable to access Ebay at all this morning (Derbyshire, U.K.). Internet connection, all other websites and email are working normally.

  13. Down Detector’ is a completely pointless. That map never changes.

The reason is that it is based on the concentration of reports divided by geographical area. As most users are based in high population areas with relatively wealthy populations who use eBay, it ALWAYS looks the same.

For this reason, it ALWAYS shows reports concentrated on NW Europe, and the East, and West, coasts of the US.

It will never, ever, show a down report in Namibia, the Faroe Islands, or Tuvalu.

  14. Down detector is on the up again.

I have had issues with loading certain eBay pages.

  15. Hard to tell if there were problems on sunday as ebay is crap at the best of times.. Easy solution i find is to click the address bar and type amazon.co.uk
