The content offering now available to Amazon Prime users in the UK and Germany has increased. The new Amazon Channels service means some TV channels will be available to Amazon subscribers for an additional fee but outside of the usual bundle charges. This page on Amazon.com explores some of the options. The service launched in the US in December 2015.
In the UK some of the channels will include: Discovery, Eurosport, ITV Hub, MGM, Shudder and Comic Con HQ.
Amazon Channels will be available via your Amazon Video app to watch on smart TVs, iOs and Android mobile devices, as well as through Amazon Fire sticks, sending the programmes to your television.
Alex Green, managing director of Amazon Channels for Europe says: “For the first time, Prime members in the UK and Germany will be able to choose to watch premium TV channels without having to sign up to a bundle or a contract, giving them the freedom to pay for only what they want to watch.”
This is clearly a new approach for viewers in the UK and additional value being added to the Amazon Prime proposition (even with the extra charges). The sports options will be of particular interest to sports fans.
