If you’re trying to log onto myHermes this morning, you may have difficulties as their website is currently having problems. Site users are being directed to a maintenance page.
We believe that they may be experiencing a cyber-attack on some of our public facing websites in the form of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDS) where their servers are suffering from a targeted flooding of their bandwidth. There is no risk from this sort of attack which would indicate any compromise of personal data – it’s simply tons of (normally hijacked) computers all trying to access the server at the same time causing a bottle neck. Normally a DDS results in the Internet connection to the server running out of bandwidth, or the server itself running out of processing power.
Hopefully either Hermes or their ISP will be able to put some blocks in place on their Internet routers to get back online shortly. However, if the situation continues for too long you may have to delay myHermes shipments for a few hours.
Updated to add: The myHermes site appears to be back up and working now.

The Hermes site was offline for 2-3 hours yesterday (Mon. 22) morning/lunchtime as well ….. perfect timing for processing all those weekend deliveries!
At least with todays outage they had the courtesy to email & apologise.
(Downdetector spike, as always, confirming it wasn’t my ropey old laptop to blame).
Cause unknown, but perhaps a spot of bother with them finally integrating the ‘new’ small/medium parcel settings with existing weights only ‘Import from ebay’ (etc) workflow?
The site is undergoing essential maintenance to the booking system. Should be back up today at 11.30am
