Amazon experienced website problems on Wednesday

It seems that on the evening of Wednesday 7th June, UK time, that Amazon product pages experienced some problems with some shoppers unable to access items for sale at all. You can check out the Down Detector page here. The screen grab illustration on this article shows the state of play at about 2AM BST.

Visitors to the site were greeted with an array of slightly bizarre dog pictures to acknowledge the problems. Here’s one:

It’s not clear how long this Amazon outage lasted but at the time of writing it does seem to be largely resolved. The duration seems to have been a number of hours. It’s rather unusual that Amazon should suffer such a problem, and usually they are rather more communicative. The focus of the problems seems to have been the West and Northeast coast of the USA. It seems that only product pages were impacted but other Amazon services were fully operational.

We’re you affected? Did it have a negative impact on your Amazon US sales?
