Newegg to launch in China with easy selling solution for small retailers

No primary category set

Newegg are to launch in China this coming Autumn. As announced at the recent Newegg Seller Day, the marketplace is expanding to 50 countries around the world and of all of these China is potentially the most interesting.

We’ve written many times about Chinese marketplaces on Tamebay and truth be told, often times the barrier to entry is too high for many smaller retailers to even consider selling to China. Whilst it’s the most populous country in the world with immense consumer spending power, what’s needed is an easy route to market and that’s what Newegg aim to offer.

Newegg are aiming to be the merchant of record which obviates the need for you to create a Chinese entity. Their strategy will be to market your products on the US Newegg marketplace. This will enable them to showcase products from retailers around the world to Chinese sellers on Newegg.com and Newegg themselves will handle local payment methods and door to door shipping to China.

As a seller you don’t need to worry about shipping, payments, Chinese support or any of the things which normally discourage sellers from attacking China. With Newegg, it’s a single seller account setup and then, once they launch in China in September, you can simply enable shipping to China when you’re ready.

I say down with Newegg’s Sophia Tsau, VP Global Marketplace and Jonathan Yin, Director of International Development, to find out more in this video interview:
