Amazon spoof job ad to replace Jeremy Clarkson

Someone at Amazon has a sense of humour!

You may not know, in fact if you’re like my colleague Dan then you may not care, but Jeremy Clarkson (formally of Top Gear and now in the middle of filming Season 2 of The Grand Tour for Amazon Video) has recently been hit with pneumonia and ended up in hospital whilst on holiday in Spain.

A spoof “TV HOST Temporary” job ad briefly appeared on the official Amazon Jobs site although it’s now been taken down. Saying “Currently, this is a temporary position to cover an absence due to pneumonia” it went on to say “The successful applicant will join a long-established team of variously sized co-hosts and possess a strong knowledge of cars, metaphors and progressive rock music”.

Poking further fun at Clarkson, a preference was stated for “especially tall candidates with curly hair”, “advanced qualification in exaggeration and braggadocio” and that “The successful applicant will be required to wear vast amounts of pre-washed denim (attire provided in sizes that are slightly too small)”.

We managed to snag a screen shot of the advert on Amazon Jobs before it disappeared, but at the time of writing the advert can still be seen on Amazon’s LinkedIn page.

Good to know that someone who works for Amazon has some fun. Hope they didn’t get into too much trouble!
