Announced in today’s eBay Seller Release are redesigned marketing tools aiming to make it easier and quicker for eBay Shop subscribers to set up and run promotions.
One of the biggest changes is that features that were previously part of Markdown Manager are now integrated within Promotions Manager. A number of updates to Promotions Manager were recently release. As long as you have a Shop subscription, you can access Promotions Manager by going to the Marketing tab in Seller Hub and selecting Promotions.
With the integration of Markdown Manager, eBay are introducing a Sale event + markdown promotion type for you to offer items at a discounted price for a selected duration. These discounts were previously set up into markdown manager; going forward, you can manage them in the same way you would other promotions in Promotions Manager.
Although it will mean a different way of working, eBay’s aim is to make your life easier so that you don’t have to first set up a discount in Markdown Manager and then creating the sale event in Promotions Manager. You’ll also find a number of new options to the Create an order discount page, including:
- New money-off values and higher discounts as well as more flexibility in setting up percentage discounts.
- A new option to include or exclude your products from promotions based on your own Shop categories as well as existing eBay categories.
Updates to eBay’s Marketing API for third party tools
eBay will be updating their Marketing API from October 2017 to include these new discounting options. This will enable external tools and developers to help you manage your promotions.
