If you’ve opted for a bright pink Christmas tree this year instead of the traditional green then you’re not alone. Perhaps largely driven by eBay‘s Christmas advert campaign, sales of pink Christmas trees are up an incredible 650% this year compared to last year.
In the advert Interior Stylist, Sarah Akwisombe is seen decorating her pink tree and that appears to have moved the needle in the nations preferences. 18 people every hour are searching eBay UK for pink Christmas trees this year
The week eBay released its ‘celebrate Christmas like nobody else’ ad, starring the sought after pink tree, searches on the site for the festive item increased by 1,040% compared to the previous week, peaking on the 12th November. Sales have been so strong that Lancashire based Festive Lights have sold out of all of their pink Christmas trees already.
“We couldn’t believe it – we sell the occasional pink tree each Christmas, but could never have predicted a complete sell out of such an unusual item, especially by the second week of November!
‘We think eBay’s Christmas advert, which features a bright pink Christmas tree, definitely had something to do with it. Since the advert aired, we’ve experienced an influx of orders for our pink trees. They might not be to everyone’s taste, but there has definitely been an increase in demand for them this Christmas.”

Perhaps eBay’s ‘Celebrate Christmas like nobody else’ tagline for the adverts isn’t quite true… if you’re celebrating Christmas like nobody else with a pink Christmas tree then you may well be celebrating Christmas like everyone else!
