eBay protect sellers from the snowflakes

No primary category set

Following the snow last week, eBay are spreading a little Christmas joy and protecting sellers from any adverse feedback caused by the bad weather.

eBay say that despite the delays to postage deliveries last week, they have been in contact with delivery providers and they have informed us that their delivery services have now resumed as normal.

In order to prevent negative impact to seller Feedback caused by the adverse weather eBay will take the following measures for affected transactions from the 9th to the 14th of December:

  • Reviewing and removing Feedback and low Detailed Seller Ratings if sellers feel they’ve been unduly affected by the adverse weather and have supporting evidence.
  • Monitoring Detailed Seller Ratings and taking corrective action in case there is an abnormal increase in low Dispatch Time ratings across all impacted sellers.

The chances are that you have lovely buyers who have looked out of their window, seen the snow drifts, discovered the kids school was closed, built snowmen, made snow angels, had a snowball fight and totally understood that just as they’re unable to get their car up the slope on the road out of their estate it was equally as difficult for delivery drivers to get in. If on the other hand you found the one buyer who doesn’t understand snow and think they dinked your feedback then it may well be worth giving eBay customer support a quick call.

  1. ……. if sellers have supporting evidence.

Usual caveats apply, don’t bother phoning eBay custard support unless your concierge as your wasting valuable hours of your life.

  2. There is going to be a lot more, RMG are having a nightmare this week. There is late mail everywhere.
eBay can take their pathetic defect system and shove it where the sun dont shine.

As long as you have click and drop you can provide that evidence when an item was dispatched. Legally you could sue them if they negatively effect your business with their silly little blackmail system, they do not have a leg to stand on…What we did and they removed the lot.

  3. Of course what they could do is just suspend the late delivery thing for items posted during that time….. oh no that would be too fair and would not mean that businesses have to chase up every single deleivery marked as late, you know checking the metrics on ebay ( which may not be left for a few weeks yet), then going to your courier and checking out the details, making copies, blah blah blah…. Thanks ebay, always there to make the ebay experience better.
oh, and what about non tracked standard Royal mail stuff, how do i get supporting evidence for this?!
Chris, Really? Ebay spreading a little joy by making sellers just through another set of hoops just to sort something that could easily be done by ebay themself? Waiting Nearly 2 WEEKS to decide this? I really must say that i swear ebay is paying you as you have become so pro ebay lately that i think im reading the ebay business seller news update on ebay itself!!!!

  4. Wow, just had one removed!

Buyer stated late delivery and it was posted on a very heavy snow day our end and theirs and it was untracked RM 48.

Worth contacting them if you have any defects like this.

  5. Problem though its too late have already lost by top rated status as am 3.07%! with evaluation done on 20th. Why did they not announce this much earlier? oh of course this is so you dont get the puny 10% fees discount!

Looks like scrooge is running ebay – BA HUMBUG!!

  6. I cannot believe some of the posts above. Your attitude really does suck. I agree with Chris – ebay extend a goodwill gesture to protect us and all they get is negativity. One seller above even accused their defect system as “blackmail”! Do you hear yourselves!?

And lotus nut – you are not understanding the defect system. The 20th Dec evaluation does not include December! You had plenty of time.

I really wish bad sellers would stop blaming ebay for their problems and just go with the system. It is significantly better than it used to be and although the system isnt perfect ebay need a way of monitoring and identifying poor performing sellers. Thats just for the good of the platform which ultimately is for the best for the good sellers.

Ebay are not fully protecting sellers dsr’s for late delivery, ebays key statement is “and have supporting evidence”. Only if you have tracking can you prove late delivery and have it removed. For many that dont you can not get it removed if there is no tracking. I send a number of letters large letters and packages using oba and have not been able to have any removed. Had couple of signed for removed and items sent by couriers have been no problem.
Ebay know there have been delivery delays yet have decided to only remove them if you have tracking or a peek in late dsr’s. That clearly stinks and and is what most have been very unhappy and discused with, especially at one of the busiest times of the year. They should have removed all of them..
