Marketplace Overview

Linio is the biggest ecommerce platform in Latin America. With a presence in 7 countries, they give sellers access to a market of over 300 million people. It’s a relatively new entrant into the world of ecommerce and you can start selling your products in the world’s fastest growing region for ecommerce. 60% of Linio’s customers are apparently male and between the ages of 26 and 38. The countries served by Linio are Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru.

Linio sells more than 6 million products across 60 categories from a gang of over 27,000 professional sellers and brands. It offers 7 different online and offline payment options, telephone support, free returns and fast delivery times.

Seller registration and requirements

As they say of the operation for sellers: “Linio’s sellers get all the benefits of entering a new market without any of the risk. No up-front investment is necessary. We do not charge any fees until you make your first sale, and our sales fees are the lowest in the industry. A dedicated staff of English/Chinese speaking ecommerce experts is ready to help you every step of the way. Sell in Latin America with your local partner.”

Product listings and fulfilment

You can also enjoy services like automated product uploads, preferential shipping rates and help with payments from overseas with Payoneer. Fulfilment can be made by sellers and they offer options to fulfil on your behalf. Tracking is required as standard.

Fees are taken on sales only with commissions varying between 7.0 – 15.0%. You can upload your inventory via the API or using CSV flat files. You’ll need to translate your listing details to help buyers.

And don’t forget that the DIT has negotiated a discount for British sellers. Register through them and enjoy a 1% discount in selling fees. Find out more here.

Tamebay’s take on Linio

Ecommerce is taking off all over the world but we don’t often consider selling in Central and South America here on Tamebay. And we’ve never written about Linio before. It is fairly new, but growing swiftly, and the region is a fast developing market with over 140 Million internet users. And this is a market that is only going to expand in the years to come so it could be well worth exploring so you can get in on the ground floor. Fulfilment from Europe is probably the biggest headache.

It would likely be best if you, or a team member, are proficient in Portuguese or Spanish when you start selling on Linio to help with listings and customer support. Do you sell there already? What have your experiences been?

You can find out more about selling on Linio here.

If you have you any experience selling on this marketplace, please do share your insights.
