Amazon has announced plans for the first Missouri fulfillment centre to be located in St. Peters, creating more than 1,500 full-time jobs with benefits and opportunities to engage with Amazon Robotics in a highly technological workplace. Amazon currently operates a sortation centre in Hazelwood, where it already employs hundreds of people.
We’re excited to continue growing our team with our first, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Missouri. Our ability to expand in Missouri is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce. Amazon is committed to providing great opportunities for employment and creating a positive economic impact for the region.
Amazon employees at the more than 800,000 square foot fulfillment centre will pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and toys. The facility will feature innovative technology such as Amazon Robotics that will assist employees in fulfilling customer orders.
– Sanjay Shah, Amazon Vice President of North America Customer Fulfilment
From a merchant perspective, it’s good news that Amazon continues to expand and grow its fulfilment network and this is yet another example of how Amazon is, predominantly, a logistics firm that’s very good at delivering the goods. For merchants who utilise the FBA system (Fulfilment by Amazon), it will offer new options and, hopefully, swifter delivery in Missouri and surrounding states.
