Rob Hattrell & Rio Ferdinand to speak at Catalyst 2018

ChannelAdvisor Catalyst Europe 2018 is just six weeks away and they have announced some of the high profile speakers at the conference which you won’t want to miss.

David Spitz, CEO of ChannelAdvisor will be opening the conference and his keynote typically covers the state of ecommerce and what to look out for in the year ahead. We’re expecting to hear lots about new technology such as AI, VR, AR, voice and image search as well as lessons to be learnt from ecommerce from around the globe.

Rob Hattrell, Vice President of eBay UK will present a keynote at 10am, immediately following David Spitz, so if you’re an eBay seller this is one not to be missed. Rob is particularly outspoken in his views of eBay and holds the view that, whilst there is an obvious growth in cross border trade that retailers can leverage through eBay, there is plenty of room within the UK itself for exponential growth for marketplace sellers to take advantage of and prosper.

Just before the lunch time break, ex International footballer and TV pundit Rio Ferdinand will take to the stage. You don’t have to be a soccer fan to expect this to be an interesting and motivational keynote – Rio who started his career at West Ham before a move to Manchester United and a final season at QPR achieved just about everything that can be achieved in the world of football.

**** Am I the only one wondering if ChannelAdvisor will try and recruit Rio Ferdinand to play for their team in The Ecommerce Cup, a month after Catalyst 2018, on the 7th of June? ****

After lunch delegates will hear from Link Walls, Vice President, Digital Marketing Strategy, ChannelAdvisor. Anyone who has met Link will know he’s been around the industry for years and knows just about everything there is to know about online marketing, paid search, and pay-per-click advertising.

The conference will close with a keynote from Web psychologist and best-selling author, Nathalie Nahai. Working with everyone from SMEs to digital and design agencies to Fortune 500 companies, including Google, eBay, Unilever and the Harvard Business Review, Nathalie is an expert in web psychology. She considers how people interact in the digital world, and how businesses can use that to further relationships and make effective use of their online presence.

  1. First Rio is a legend, and United have never replaced him or Vidic.

It would be interesting to see how Mr Rob thinks there is plenty of room to expand using ebay in the UK, that does not involve cutting your margins to pieces. UK is market is just such a race to the bottom right now, this is what is in decline for us, while our overseas markets are what makes us money and are growing.

  2. must admit Rios record of only 5 own goals in much better than ebays
have to say we admire both
but fail to see what a world class footballer has to do with E commerce

  3. I have been to Catalyst for the last two years…. drinks with Tamebay much appreciated….. but will not be attending this year. I need networking opportunities, practical advice and industry insight. I do not see why Rio is taking to the stage… He couldn’t even sell a dummy let alone anything online.

I suppose as a Liverpool fan you could say I am biased. But I don’t think Channel Advisor should be promoting a former drugs cheat.
