One of the presentations at Internet Retailing Expo in Birmingham last month came from Amazon Business. Nikhil Amin of Amazon business gave a talk about how they see the marketplace that’s honed and developed especially for B2B (business to business) sales.
And it’s not just businesses that plug into the B2B marketplace on Amazon UK (it’s also recently launched in France and has been available in Germany for some time). Governments, public organisations and charities too are all using the specific services that make it easier for buyers within organisations to buy supplies.

In the video called Vision For Amazon Business And How We Are Approaching It, Amin talks about understanding and meeting B2B customer expectations, why you should become a seller on the B2B Marketplace and provides information on simplifying the seller journey to making your goods available on Amazon Business.
A number of features on Amazon Business make it particularly attractive to institutional procurement services on top of free one-day delivery:
- Pay by invoice: Pay on net 30 day terms to help improve cash flow.
- Business Invoices: Improved search and filter features now allow business customers to quickly find offers from Amazon and Marketplace sellers who display net prices and offer VAT-inclusive invoicing for download.
- Catalogue Curation: Enabling businesses to configure the Amazon Business catalogue according to their procurement policies. Administrators can define approval criteria and set certain or restricted categories and products.
- Detailed transaction data on commercial card purchases are available: Track and reconcile business purchases with line-item detail on every Amazon Business purchase made with a Visa Commercial Card issued by Barclaycard, Citi, HSBC or Lloyds Bank.
It’s also integrated into procurement systems and shoppers can use a the Add a Purchase Order (PO) number to orders, add multiple users to business accounts, set spending limits, enable purchasing approval workflows and gain visibility of expenditure with Amazon Business Analytics.
