eBay Canada is shining a light on Canadian sellers

eBay Canada is holding an event on the marketplace with the aim of celebrating Canadian merchants. And one of the reasons is a desire to encourage local trade and get people to “shop Canadian”.

And it is heartening to see eBay playing to its strengths. They are keen to celebrate local talent and homegrown sellers. The promo marketing is unabashedly proud of Canada and there is nothing wrong (ahem) aboot that ehh.

We’re Shining a Light on Canadian Sellers. List your inventory to take advantage of the upcoming Buy Canadian event, launching on May 16. Shoppers are keen to shop locally and get faster, cheaper shipping, so let’s show em’ what we got!

Indeed it would be good to see something similar here in the UK. There is a real need to celebrate small businesses and, we think, a desire to support merchants. And it speaks to the core of eBay. Amazon can sometimes be perfunctory and anonymous, ebay doesn’t need to be the same. It’s good to celebrate merchants.

eBay may not quite be as quirky as Etsy but it has the scope to be personal and real. Such initiatives are to be welcomed.
