In today’s Autumn Seller Release, eBay are making it possible for pre-sales questions from buyers to sellers once again. They’re not relexing the eBay contact information policy per se, but are providing a way for buyers to phone sellers when they need buying advice. This is in response to feedback from sellers who have been unable to serve their customers to the level they aspire to.
As of July 2018, eBay have started a test where you can now share a customer service phone number that buyers can use to contact you before they make a purchase. This is completely optional and opting in is easy.
Here at Tamebay we know a lot of sellers detest the phone and the last thing they want is for buyers to be phoning them, especially if they run their business from their personal mobile phone. That’s fine, you don’t have to publish your number. We also know plenty of businesses who happily publish a customer support number on their website and would welcome the opportunity to assist eBay buyers to purchase the correct item and these sellers will once again be able to do so.
Opting in to share contact information
eBay will only share your phone number if you opt in via the Manage communications with buyers section in your Account settings. Once opted in, buyers will see your eBay contact information and phone number after clicking “Ask a question”.
eBay are currently working on implementation in the mobile app which they plan to launch soon. When they activate the customer support feature on the mobile app, buyers will be able to see your phone number in the Seller Profile on Android devices. For iOS, your phone number will be visible in the Contact Seller area.
As a reminder, eBay prohibit off site sales and say that if a buyer attempts to buy from you outside of eBay then you should report it.

You tell me where the “Ask a question” button is & I will do so.
Out of sight, out of mind.
