The DPD Design Space community already has 10,000 members signed up. Design Space was created by to share new ideas and insights and let customers shape the kind of delivery experience they would like in future. Users can post their own ideas or suggestions, comment on ideas from DPD and other community members and rate the best ideas.
The DPD team, including CEO Dwain McDonald, regularly review the ideas and then choose which ones can be implemented immediately, those that should be prioritised for more development or they can ask the community to review ideas further. DPD only launched the initiative four months ago and had originally hoped to get 2,000 members signed up by the end of 2018.
The DPD Design Space sits within the Your DPD ap. The app allows customers to personalise their DPD experience, including the ability to specify preferred neighbours for deliveries if they aren’t home, provide multiple delivery addresses, share a picture of their ‘safe place’ for deliveries and specify if they wish to avoid deliveries around the school run.
Design Space is about giving our customers a voice and helping them to shape the kind of delivery service they want. We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the response. We only launched four months ago and have received hundreds of ideas that we are busy reviewing and, in a number of cases, already working to make them a reality. The ideas range from tiny tweaks in the way we communicate with customers to much bigger technological or infrastructural changes. Quite a few times I’ve sat there and thought; “why didn’t we think of that?”
I don’t know of any other delivery company that has the ability to talk directly to over 10,000 parcel receivers and encourage them to share their ideas on what future deliveries should look like.
