There are a number of bushfires in Queensland, Australia that are causing a great deal of disruption in general, but one affected service is Australia Post. The national postal service is updating customers of its current precautions but some post offices have been shut in impacted areas.

The bushfires have been stoked in particular by hot weather, windy conditions and a long dry spell. On Sunday, local officials said that the situation with the bushfires was likely to get worse before it gets better because of embers being carried on the wind are starting new fires. More towns and villages in the area were told to prepare to evacuate their homes.
In a statement Australia Post have explained what they are doing to minimise problems:
Bushfires in the Bundaberg and Gladstone regions are continuing to result in delays to mail and parcel deliveries in some areas and some Post Office closures in locations that have been evacuated. We’re doing everything possible to minimise the impact on customers and will complete all deliveries and re-open Post Offices as soon as it is safe to do so.
