Amazon Brazil finally launches fulfilment network

No primary category set

Amazon have announced the expansion of its operations in Brazil with the launch of their fulfilment and delivery network.

Consumers can now buy products from 12 categories sold and delivered by Amazon, including the launch of four new ones: Baby, Beauty, Personal Care and Toys.

Amazon offers free shipping (for orders starting at $99 for books and video games and from $149 for all other categories) and fast delivery options, available for hundreds of thousands of products sold and shipped from their new Distribution Center, located in Cajamar, Greater São Paulo.

With this launch, Amazon Brazil now offers more than 20 million products in 15 categories, including items sold and delivered by Amazon, or by partner sellers, including small and medium-sized Brazilian companies. Customers can take advantage of hundreds of offers on Amazon Brazil, with payment by boleto bancário.

In addition to the increased offer of products on the site, Amazon offers new shopping experiences: the Cachos & Ondas store and the Baby List. At Cachos & Ondas, consumers can buy products for curly, curly and wavy hair, including brands like Salon Line, Natural Beauty, Joico and Lola. With the Baby List, families expecting babies can create a personalized gift list, choosing from thousands of products in different categories – from diapers to trolleys, to pacifiers and baby bottles. Amazon expectant parents can share the list with friends and family, and access special offers even after the child is born.

The launch of Amazon fulfilment services in Brazil has been very much delayed, reportedly due to a complicated logistics network in Brazil coupled with a complex tax regime. It’s rumoured that new vehicles that Amazon will be employing will be bullet-proof to safely transport more expensive items such as electronics in remote areas where there is an enhanced chance of attacks and robbery. We first reported that Amazon were building a fulfilment network back in October but Amazon missed the key Christmas selling season.
